St. Olaf Christmas Festival
Here’s a last minute reminder for you:
Minnesota Public Radio will present a live broadcast — on the air and streamed online — of the St. Olaf Christmas Festival, “My Spirit Sings of Wondrous Things,” Sunday, Dec. 7, beginning at 3:30 p.m (Central Time). MPR will present an encore broadcast Dec. 25 from 8 to 10 p.m.
Listening to the St. Olaf Christmas Festival has become an annual tradition for me. Here’s a snippet of one of my favorite pieces (Glories Ring) from the 2007 Christmas Festival. I had it saved on my TIVO for months until someone accidentally deleted it. What can I say? I like to play and listen to handbells.
The first clip is the video from the 2007 PBS special, but the sound is quieter. The second clip is audio only, but a bit louder.

I found out that American Public Media (the distributor of the annual radio program) has archives of the last few years available for online streaming. If you have a spare hour or so, you can listen to some fine choral and instrumental music.
